At Focus Buddies, we believe every child deserves to shine in the classroom, no matter how their brain works. We’re a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit, which means all of our tutoring is 100% free!

Whether a student has ADHD or just needs a little extra support, we’re here to make learning fun, inclusive, and confidence-boosting. We offer completely virtual and personalized tutoring by working with pediatric ADHD specialists for K–5 students in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning. Our Services:

Reading

We help students strengthen their reading skills through phonics, fluency, and comprehension activities. Whether they’re learning to sound out words or diving into short stories, our tutors make reading engaging and accessible for all learning styles.

Writing

From forming sentences to expressing big ideas, we support students in organizing their thoughts, building grammar skills, and gaining confidence in writing. Our approach is creative, encouraging, and focused on progress over perfection.

Mathematics

We guide students through foundational math concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and early problem-solving strategies. By breaking tasks into manageable steps, we help students build confidence and make math feel less overwhelming.

Executive Functioning

Many students with ADHD struggle with focus, time management, and organization. Our sessions include simple, supportive strategies like visual checklists, routine-building, and memory games to help kids stay on track and feel more in control.

Focus Buddies is a student-led initiative based in California, dedicated to providing students with ADHD the education they deserve.

We believe every child should feel seen and supported in the classroom. Our free tutoring program bridges learning gaps for K–5 students by offering personalized help in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning, all in a way that works with their learning style, not against it.

Before you leave us a question, check out our frequently asked questions that we’ve already provided answers for!

  • Classes are usually 1-2 times per week, and mainly depends on the parent’s preference. One class is usually 30-45 minutes long but can be altered depending on availability and the subject.

  • All of our tutoring sessions are online! We want to make Focus Buddies accessible for all. We will usually host the meetings via Zoom or Google Meet. A stable internet connection and quiet space are recommended for the best experience.

  • After filling out the form, please allow 5–7 days for us to review your information and match your child with the best tutor for their needs and schedule.

  • Of course! Anyone is allowed to tutor for Focus Buddies and we also offer community service hours for every tutored session! You can fill out the form that we’ve linked above and we will reach out to you within a week.

  • Definitely! Focus Buddies is a non-profit organization and we value education equality and accessibility. Our tutoring sessions are 100% free for anyone interested.
